Alton Towers Resort will be unveiling two exciting new attractions when it officially opens for the 2012 season.

The weekend of March 24th sees the start of Alton Towers’ main season with the launch of two long awaited attractions: Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – the 4-D Experience and Nemesis Sub-Terra.

Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs – the 4-D Experience is based on the third movie of the popular “Ice Age” series, and will combine 3D footage with a variety of physical effects to create the ultimate 4-D experience.

Located in the Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre, it will serve as the centrepiece of a new “Ice Age”-themed area, and the theatre itself will be updated to include moving seats and other 4-D elements.

Fans will also get to meet and greet “Ice Age” characters Sid and Scrat around the resort.

Nemesis Sub-Terra is an adrenaline-pumping attraction based around the story of the original Nemesis ride, taking guests on a terrifying journey deep underground.

Located in Alton Towers’ Forbidden Valley, this ride is set in the secret underground catacomb of an alien creature and promises to be a physically and psychologically thrilling experience.

As part of the new season opening, two interactive “Ice Age” themed rooms will also debut at the Alton Towers Resort’s Splash Landing Hotel.
