The public opinion of Turkey throughout the world varies greatly. While thousands of British, German and Russian holidaymakers flock to the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, many nationalities continue to view the country with suspicious eyes.

This week’s guest blogger ET Speaks from Home gives us her expert advice on how to plan a day out with the kids!
My children and I always look forward to the weekend especially if we are going away for a short city break or to a theme park.
Going out with young children can seem like a military operation, so planning ahead, however understanding your child’s needs and preferences, will ensure that everyone has a good time.
NASA predict that the Northern lights are due to be at their most incredible for 11 years this winter. We believe them.
The Northern lights are on a cycle. Nature’s most awesome light show gets to its brightest and shiniest stage roughly every 11 years – and 2013 is that year.
NASA predict that this December will be the best possible conditions for seeing the Northern Lights in the next decade. And we trust NASA right? So if you’re deliberating over a trip to Iceland this winter, my advice is - DO IT!

So it’s a good thing not all of our attractions are weather-dependent! If the climate is driving you indoors, there’s still plenty of fun to be had at these attractions across the UK:
Fun for the whole family awaits in this colourful, creative, crazy world, with interactive rides, a 4D cinema and over 2 million LEGO bricks under one roof!

Why not surprise that special person in your life with a romantic day out or experience that they’re guaranteed to love? If you’re in need of inspiration, look no further than our top choices for an unforgettable Valentine’s:
On these chilly January days, we’ve been keeping ourselves cheery by thinking back to holidays we took last year and also thinking about trips we might be taking in the year ahead!
There’s no better feeling than when you’re planning something to look forward to - whether it’s a family holiday, day out, a treat during half term, whatever! And in our opinion, it’s never too soon to start planning your next trip.
As with any well-thought out plans, it’s always a good starting point to review places you’ve been and things you’ve done previously. What made your last holiday or day out so great? Was it the activities you did, rides you went on, pre-planning by buying your tickets in advance, or breezing past the queue with your fast-pass?
If you saw the “smiling sheep” scattered around the country, their wool sprayed with a mysterious smiley face symbol, the mystery has now been uncovered. It wasn’t, as some people speculated, a message from aliens, but was in fact a publicity stunt to promote Alton Towers Resort's new ride.
The Smiler will be the first coaster of its kind in the world – an all-knowing controlling force that will make riders compliant until they become a smiling advocate.
The new ride will be the biggest ever investment for a ride at Alton Towers, and also the Resort’s biggest ever rollercoaster with a “highest drop” of 30 metres.
If you make one resolution this year, it should definitely be that you’ll book all your attraction tickets in advance, starting now! Here’s why:
Believe it or not, you can actually save money by booking your tickets in advance rather than paying “at the gate”! Many of the tickets we sell are exclusive to UK customers, so if you’re planning a holiday and want to have fun without breaking the bank, it’s usually more wallet-friendly to buy before you fly.
The excitement of Christmas and New Year may be over, but that’s no reason to deprive yourself of fun times until February!

There have been a lot of rumours about what the ride might actually be like and what it would include. Would it be faithful to the movie? As a dark ride, will it include 3D? Well, we’ve been teased with bits of information so far, but we’re gathering as much as we can.
With a 4 day weekend upon us we wanted to keep you informed and give you some information regarding call centre opening times.

PortAventura opened its newest rollercoaster, Shambhala, on the 12th May. This highly anticipated ride has beaten three European records including the highest rollercoaster in Europe at 76 metres, the longest fall at 78 metres and the fastest, reaching speeds of 134km/h. This puts Shambhala into a league of its own as a hypercoaster.

We managed to take a tour around the new Harry Potter Studios attraction in London and we took lots of photos to show you guys!
The series might be over but the magic of Harry Potter lives on! The new Warner Bros Studios Tour which opened in London this year has some fantastic props and scenery from the Harry Potter movies and we took lots of photos to share...
With Disneyland Paris celebrating its 20th year, the park’s looking forward to the future and has already got a firm idea of the new attractions and rides, which we can expect to open over the next few years.
With an investment of around 250 million euros, the plans are going to be big with a multi-year expansion anticipated. The Chief Executive Officer of Euro Disney S.C.A., Philippe Gas, has made a couple of announcements about the park’s future already.
After the success of the Toy Story interactive ride in Hollywood Studios, Orlando, which opened in August 2012, Gas explains that Disneyland Paris could be expecting something similar. Disney fans are speculating whether it could be a migration of Toy Story Mania, the interactive shooting gallery dark ride.
We’ve been anticipating the opening of the new Transformers ride at Universal Studios in Hollywood for some time now and have been eagerly awaiting any further news on its development.
Now, the LA Times have released behind the scenes images of the exciting new attraction.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been under the limelight for a year now. Since their wedding in April 2011, the couple have been the centre of attention for royal fans not just in the UK but as far as USA, Canada and Australia.
Now Madame Tussauds in London are celebrating the marriage of Kate Middleton and Prince William a year on with a lifelike wax sculpture of the pair.
The Sea Life centre in London is a place where you will get transported to the depths of the oceans and come face to face with exotic and wonderful aquatic creatures. You’re guaranteed to see something new, perhaps in the form of a bizarre jellyfish, an elegant seahorse or a colourful coral fish.
The aquarium in London is now home to a few more awe-inspiring guests. A group of 20 sharks arrived at the attraction in March, including two impressive 2.8m long brown sharks and ten sleek black tip reef sharks.
These new creatures make up the Shark Reef Encounter, immersing guests into the world of sharks, with a 5m long glass walkway, where they swim and glide beneath your feet. Further into the aquarium, guests will be greeted by 20m by 12m window with a shipwreck circled by these magnificent creatures.
We hope that everyone is looking forward to a lovely Easter weekend filled with lots of chocolate Easter eggs!
We just wanted to keep you informed and give you some information regarding call centre opening times.
Over the Easter weekend our call centre will be opened on the following days:
Alton Towers opened its gates to the public last week along with the much anticipated debut of Nemesis Sub-Terra and Ice Age 4D. AttractionTix had a first look at these new attractions.
Our first stop was Nemesis Sub-Terra in the Forbidden Valley located next to the Nemesis rollercoaster. The queue time was long for the first day, but the anticipation made the time fly by as we got closer to the ride entrance. The experience begins as soon as you approach the ride, with Phalanx security looking over you as they guard whatever lurks inside. They remain true to their authoritive character purveying the sense that they should not be messed with.
Universal Studios in Orlando have enjoyed the success of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter since it opened in 2010. There is no doubt that this Orlando attraction has been hugely popular, not just with UK visitors, but also fans from all over the US.
Now the magic of Harry Potter is coming home with the Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour in London, opening on March 31st. Although it’s not a reimagining of the Harry Potter universe like Hogsmeade in Universal Studios, it does give a great behind the scenes look at some of the actual props and sets from the movies.
Guests visiting this new attraction will be able to wonder the halls of Hogwarts and come face to face with models of the mythical creatures and villains from the stories. There will also be costumes worn by the characters on display including Hermione’s Yule ball evening gown to Dumbledore’s scholarly robes.
The year 2012 marks Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee (that’s 60 years on the throne people!). Most excitingly, this means that UK inhabitants get an extra bank holiday on June 5th. This follows an already existing bank holiday, meaning – that’s right – a FOUR DAY WEEKEND!
If you’re unsure of just what to do with yourself during this extended period of holiday, why not get patriotic and celebrate the reign of our stalwart monarch by taking in one of these “Royal-Inspired” tours?
Anyone visiting the iconic London bankside will have an opportunity to try out the new experience on the London Eye.
EDF energy and the London Eye are teaming up to create a new interactive experience for guests and tourists. The capsules on the symbolic sightseeing attraction now come with a state of the art Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 device complete with exclusive bespoke content created by LMC design and Henry Stuart Photography.
The interactive touch screen displays will provide a unique insight into some of London’s landmarks which are observable from the Eye, including 3D views of each location.
It’s amazing to know that Universal Studios have been creating movies for 100 years. It’s almost as if we have grown up with this name, as we sit in dark movie theatres and watch the logo introduce the newest blockbuster film.
This will be one party that is not only celebrated in Hollywood, but also in the parks as well. As we mentioned in our FloridaTix post about the Universal’s ‘Year to be Here’ promotion, there will be a brand new light show accompanied by spectacular water fountains. This should be one event not to miss this year.
Time flies when you’re having fun and it only seems like yesterday when Disney announced they were building a park right here in Europe.
In 1992, Eurodisney opened to the crowds and since then has been renamed Disneyland Paris. The magic hasn't changed though and with each passing year, Disney have offered bigger and more memorable experiences.
With celebrations starting from April 1st until November, this will be one long party not to miss.
You may remember back in November last year we talked about a new rollercoaster planned for PortAventura. With the opening just around the corner, we’re taking a look at the progress of the construction for this monumental thrill ride.
Shambhala: Expedicion al Himalaya will be the tallest rollercoaster in Europe, reaching 76 metres high and set in an area of over 14,000m2 of themed space. The environment will be inspired from the landscapes and architecture in the Himalayan area, especially Bhutan. Guests can see the detail put into the scenery for themselves, allowing them to stroll right up to the rollercoaster’s structure.
Alton Towers are going to have a very cool weekend as they are joined by characters from the Ice Age movies to celebrate the opening of their new 4D attraction.
The themed weekend will run on the 2nd and 3rd at the Alton Towers Resort, ahead of the opening of the Ice Age 4D Experience on March 24th.
Guests will not only have a chance to meet characters from the Ice Age films such as Sid the Sloth and Scrat, but can also watch the films in the Alton Towers cinema

Fans of Drayton Manor won’t have long to wait until they can return to their favourite theme park after the winter – it will be opening its doors for special advance weekends ahead of the main opening season.
Drayton Manor’s 2012 season officially begins on March 17th, but it will also be open for business on select weekends in February and March up until then. Parts of the park will also be open during half term ahead of its official opening.
Guests can look forward to enjoying the park’s most exciting attractions even earlier than expected. Among the attractions that will be open on these weekends are the Ben 10: Ultimate Mission rollercoaster, Thomas Land, the 4D cinema and Drayton Manor’s 15-acre zoo.
Alton Towers have unveiled plans for a terrifying new ride due to open in time for the 2012 season. Nemesis: Sub-Terra will be based on the back-story of Alton Towers’ world-famous Nemesis ride.
However, unlike the Nemesis inverted rollercoaster, Nemesis: Sub-Terra will be an indoor ride that descends two stories below ground; an inventive method of getting around restrictions that prevent Alton Towers from building above a certain height.
The story behind the Nemesis ride is that of an extraterrestrial creature put on Earth over two million years ago. Nemesis: Sub-Terra will be located close to Nemesis in the Forbidden Valley section of the park and continues the story of this terrifying creature. The dark and intense underground setting is set to make for a psychologically thrilling experience.
Alton Towers Resort will be unveiling two exciting new attractions when it officially opens for the 2012 season.
The weekend of March 24th sees the start of Alton Towers’ main season with the launch of two long awaited attractions: Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs - the 4-D Experience and Nemesis Sub-Terra.
Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs - the 4-D Experience is based on the third movie of the popular “Ice Age” series, and will combine 3D footage with a variety of physical effects to create the ultimate 4-D experience.
Located in the Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre, it will serve as the centrepiece of a new “Ice Age”-themed area, and the theatre itself will be updated to include moving seats and other 4-D elements.
Blackpool is one of the UK’s best-loved beach resorts, with its famed illuminations, two world-class ballrooms and a welcoming family atmosphere. Favoured by a host of celebrities, this city boasts some of the UK’s most popular attractions:

Siam Park and Loro Parque are launching a new feature which means that smartphone users will no longer need a printed ticket for admission.
If you’re visiting either of these Tenerife water parks you can now simply show the e-ticket on your smartphone at the gate, where the barcode on your ticket will be scanned.
This initiative will save a lot of paper from being wasted, which is great for our environment. With no paper ticket to print off and remember to take with you, it couldn’t be easier!
Universal Studios Hollywood has revealed a new attraction, Transformers: The Ride - 3D, which is scheduled to open in May 2012.
The Transformers ride is Universal’s latest attraction to use 3D technology, following the hugely successful King Kong 3D, also at the Hollywood park, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando.
This new ride will combine 3D animation, animatronics and flight-simulator elements in a mind-blowing adventure which places riders into the ultimate war zone, fighting alongside Optimus in the battle to protect the All Spark from the evil clutches of the Decepticons.
2012 sees the 100th anniversary of Universal Studios, which will be celebrated with an exciting and extensive campaign that will take place throughout the year.
Universal Hollywood is one of the oldest film studios to still be in operation, and also the first to open its doors to tourists. It became famous for its classic monster films such as “Frankenstein,” “Dracula,” “The Mummy” and “The Invisible Man”, as well as blockbusters like “Jaws,” “E.T.” and the “Back to the Future” films.
Hogwarts is coming to Hollywood! Universal Studios Hollywood have announced that it plans to open its own “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” themed attraction.
Following the success of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort, the Hollywood version is expected to be every bit as impressive as what has been created in Orlando, as well as being faithful to the visual landscape of the films.

The Kinect: Disneyland Adventures game takes place in a virtual recreation of the Disneyland California theme park, allowing users to immerse themselves in this magical world from the comfort of their own living rooms.
Kinect’s technology means that the game is controlled by your own body movements rather than with a console, so you and your virtual character (created at the start of the game) can explore the park, which is realistically filled with kids dragging their parents to and fro to various rides, as well as many familiar Disney faces!
The game itself involves completing various activities within the park’s open world environment, and also boarding the Disneyland ‘rides’, which see you participating in Disney-themed mini-games.

Madame Tussauds has a new addition to their pop-tastic music line up in the form of the gorgeous Rihanna. The Barbadian songstress now stands side by side to Lady GaGa, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse.
The wax model is inspired from her duet with Matt Cardle in the X Factor final, with a fitted black dress and cherry red curls. She joins the ‘diva dream team’ of female artists already at the London attraction.
Taking up to 4 months from start to finish, Madame Tussauds spared no expense creating this lifelike model, spending £150,000 to complete and we think it was worth every penny!

It seems ages ago since Father’s Day but here’s one Dad that won’t ever forget his experience in an Aston Martin for his gift.
It’s easy to think about getting a DVD, bottle of plonk or CD of his favourite band as I usually do each year but finding the Aston Martin experience day just screamed out for a try. My Dad has been a serious fan of Aston Martins for a long time, right from the DB5, the 1977 vantage, the DB7 and the DB9.
To start with he was shown the track in a Suburu by the instructor to give him an idea of what to expect. Then he was shown how to drive the Aston Martin before blasting it around the track. Apparently the most difficult thing for him to get his head around was to ignore his instincts to break on the corners and to put the pedal to the metal instead. He seemed to vividly recall the frightening power of the Aston’s engine. Quite an adrenaline fuelled day!
