Prince’s Trust Clay Shoot

The team had a fun day out at the shooting range this week as part of a fundraiser for the Prince’s Trust aimed to help young people find job opportunities. AttractionTix joined other companies including Pinfields accountants, Thursfields solicitors and Hotel Shop UK helping to raise over £7,000 for the charity.

It was a superb occasion and everyone had a great time which was evident in the auction and raffle with everyone digging deep to show their appreciation, but how was our aim?

Paul clay pigeon shooting

Paul takes aim on the first round. Little did we know, this was about as easy as it was going to get. A simple path across the sky was easy to track and hit but the ones that followed were a little trickier.

Phillipa clay pigeon shooting

Phillipa has a go next and is shown how to hold the gun. The recoil and noise was quite brutal! Thankfully they gave us bright orange earplugs which led to some funny conversations.

Richard clay pigeon shooting

"Should I really be trusted with this gun?" I glance around cautiously before shouting "Pull!". I think my teammates were as nervous as me. That flat cap isn't mine by the way.

clay pigeon shooting

Taking aim down the barrel and tracking the clays path through the air requires good foresight and reaction...both of which I lack! Oh, and that's not a Wotzit in my ear, it's an earplug.

Clay pigeon shooting observers

Was it a hit? Paul, Phillipa and Laura look on to see if another clay was swatted out of the sky.

Laura and a shooting jacket

Laura dons a shooting jacket which helped absorb some of the recoil. I think we all had tender shoulders when the day ended.

Paul winning the clay shoot

Paul finishes up the day with the win, followed by Andrea, myself, Laura and Phillipa. In the end, we decided we'd let him beat us after he said the winner had to buy the drinks, which he honoured!

Princes Trust auction

We had a raffle draw and an auction in the evening after a bite to eat. People exchanged stories of the days events and a little bit of advice from the experts was welcomed.

AttractionTix clay pigeon shooting

Thankfully, they didn't let us leave with the guns. However, we will be practicing for next year's fundraiser with hopes of improving our score....and aim.

Why not try clay pigeon shooting for yourself?

If you're interested in this experience, which I can guarantee is a lot of fun, then why not try your aim and see if you can do better than us. It's a great day for corporate events or for a lads activity, whether you're a professional or novice. Simply check out our clay pigeon shooting page
