Chichen Itza: Guided Tour with Sound and Light show

If you’ve ever imagined swimming and sunning yourself by a sacred pool, you need to jump in the Chukum Cenote, the first stop on this tour. Cenotes—deep natural pools—are mostly found in the Yucatan and were sacred to the ancient Mayan people. Now, harmless catfish share the water with swimmers, so don’t worry if you feel the occasional nibble on your toes.

Afterwards, you’ll arrive at the luxurious Mayaland Resort and be served a buffet lunch, full of delicious regional dishes. Don’t feel like you need to eat quickly to get to Chichen Itza and avoid the crowds—the resort has its own private entrance to the ancient city.

Your certified, bilingual guide will show you around when you enter, and if you want to see anything further you can explore the grounds by yourself afterwards. Then you’ll head back to Mayaland, either to discover more about a local export, henequen, or just to enjoy the amenities of the resort.

The Light and Sound show in the evening brings the grounds of the ancient city back to life! See the serpent illusion, which occurs naturally on the temple steps, picked out in lights, and listen on your translation headsets for words and music that accompany the laser show.

IMPORTANT: Admission fee into the archaeological site is NOT included, and will be payable upon entrance. This is governed by the local municipality and our Tour providers have no control over this. The amount is usually approximately $515 Pesos which is only around £21 per person. On Tuesdays through to Saturdays. On Sundays the amount is usually approximately $260 Pesos which is only around £11 per person.
