Thousands of pilgrims from around the world converge on Vatican City every Wednesday to listen to the Papal Audience. However, places are limited and many are disappointed.

This escorted ticket service, the only one of its kind, takes the strain out of jostling with the crowds in St. Peter’s Square and takes care of the details, allowing you to relax and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Knowledgeable tour guides will pick-up your tickets, meet you close to St Peter’s Square and escort you inside early to ensure better seats in either the Square or the Sala of Paul VI.

You’ll be provided with headsets from which you’ll learn what to expect during the Papal Audience, and learn more of the history of Bernini’s St Peter’s Square and the marvels within the walls of Vatican City.

Your guide will explain how the papacy progressed through the centuries, from the early Christians, through the era of Constantine and to the modern wonders of the Holy See.

Whether you wish to join in and pray with the Pope, take part in the singing led by spiritual leaders or just sit back and take in the majesty of a Papal Audience, the assistance will be invaluable ensuring the whole experience is memorable for all the right reasons.

Time:

Meet your guide at 7.30am.

Meeting Point:

  • Meet in Piazza Pio XII, facing St. Peters Basilica. The meeting point is located on the left hand side, at the corner next to the Newspaper stand.
  • Your guide will wearing a City Wonders uniform (blue polo shirt or jacket) for easy recognition. 

Duration:

4 hours. The Papal Audience service ends around noon.

Accessibility:

Unsuitable for people with impaired mobility and wheelchair users.

Dress Code:

  • The dress code at the Papal Audience is very strictly enforced.
  • Shoulders and knees MUST be covered on both men and women.
  • Failure to comply with dress regulations can result in refused entry.
  • AttractionTix is not responsible for refused entry due to inappropriate dress.

Location of the Papal Audience:

  • Depending on the time of year the actual location of the Papal Audience may alternate.
  • During warmer months from around Easter week to the end of September it is held outdoors at St. Peter’s Square.
  • During colder months it is in the Sala of Paul VI within the Leonine Walls of Vatican City.
  • The location is decided by Vatican officials the day before the Audience.
  • Regardless of its location, this tour guarantees entrance tickets.

Getting to the meeting point from Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani Metro A Station:

  • Take the St. Peter’s Basilica exit from the metro station
  • Walk down Via Ottaviano until you reach Piazza Risorgimento.
  • Continue straight across the piazza and you’ll see the Vatican walls – follow Via di Porta Angelica until you arrive at the colonnade.
  • Follow the colonnade to the left – at the end of the colonnade you’ll see on the left a large Piazza and a main street (Via della Conciliazione).
  • Facing this street with the Basilica at your back, the meeting point is located to the right side of Via della Conciliazione at the corner, next to the newspaper stand.
