Universal Studios Hollywood has revealed a new attraction, Transformers: The Ride – 3D, which is scheduled to open in May 2012.

The Transformers ride is Universal’s latest attraction to use 3D technology, following the hugely successful King Kong 3D, also at the Hollywood park, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando.

This new ride will combine 3D animation, animatronics and flight-simulator elements in a mind-blowing adventure which places riders into the ultimate war zone, fighting alongside Optimus in the battle to protect the All Spark from the evil clutches of the Decepticons.

The look and feel of the ride will remain close to that of the Transformers movies, with the rider placed in the midst of the war between human-friendly Autobots and the four-storey tall Decepticons. As in the films, the robots will “transform” into cars, planes, tanks and other vehicles.

Transformers: The Ride – 3D at Universal Studios Hollywood is also expected to be very similar to the Transformers ride that is already in operation at Universal Studios Singapore.
