What’s New At The UK Theme Parks For 2014?
Summer is nearly in sight which means we can start thinking about what to do on those long hot (well, hopefully!) summer days! With this in mind we’re giving you the low-down on what’s going on in the UK’s top theme parks and attractions in 2014.
Alton Towers CBeebies Land – Opening May 2014
This spring, Alton Towers opens the doors to the first ever CBeebies Land! Visitors can step into the world of some of their favourite characters with all kinds of unique rides, attractions and live entertainment which will inspire learning through play.
Characters and shows featured in CBeebies Land:

- Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle from In The Night Garden
- Postman Pat

Alton Towers opens for the 2014 season on 22nd March
Chessington World of Adventures – Scorpion Express
The brand new ride Scorpion Express is nestled within Mexicana’s Scorpion Valley – a land of sweeping sands and gold mines. The old train is the only way to cross the sands of Scorpion Valley, but watch out for surprises at every turn including the Scorpions that guard the gold mine!
Chessington World of Adventures opens for the 2014 season on 15th March
LEGOLAND Windsor – Pirate Shores
Set sail to Pirate Shores at Legoland Windsor in 2014 and join Captain Goodbrick’s crew as they battle to save Castaway Camp!
Pirate Shores is home to 3 amazing adventures:
All-new Pirate Play Area
This all-new play area will challenge every would-be pirate, with a towering fortress, awesome battleship, high rope walks, nets, slides and more!
Pirate Falls Log Flume
A brand new quest is coming to one of Pirate Shores’ most popular rides in 2014. Shipmates will help search for Goodbrick’s lost treasure and reclaim it from the scandalous Captain Blackheart, with help from Scallyway the Parrot along the way!
Jolly Rocker Pirate Ship
Take on the voyage of your life on the Jolly Rocker Pirate Ship, which will test your nerves and sea legs – are you a true pirate??
Legoland Windsor opens for the 2014 season on 15th March
Thorpe Park – Angry Birds Land
In 2014 Thorpe Park will be opening its doors to a brand-new land featuring the much-loved Angry Birds characters – a must-see for families and fans!
What to look out for at Angry Birds Land:
The world-first Angry Birds 4D Experience with high-impact special effects which bring the ANGRY BIRDS characters to life!
- The ANGRY BIRDS invade Detonator is – a 100ft rapid drop tower ride – is coming home to roost
- Red Bird & the Bad Piggies go bump to bump on a NEW dodgems attraction!
Thorpe Park opens for the 2014 season on 20th March
*Please note the new attraction opening dates are still to be confirmed and will not necessarily open when the parks do.
