New York and Paris are the two most popular cities for proposing. And you can easily see why. Beautiful scenery, awesome architecture. But because of this, they’re often coated in cooing cutesy couples trying to be the standout proposal of the day. Make it about yourselves, don’t go for the spectacular, and avoid the crowds, and it’ll be unforgettable.

Italy – If you’ve seen my infographic about the best places to propose, you’ll see that Italy has some lush locations. Taormina in Sicily easily takes the plaudits for the most spectacular, but there’s always the traditional gondola ride in Venice. Find a nice bit of Venice in a glorious sunset and just float off together – terrific.

Iceland – A frozen, volcanic rock in the Arctic circle might not sound might not sound amazing at first (especially if you’re more of a beach person) but there is no better place in the world to see the amazing Northern Lights. There are dedicated tours to go and see the Aurora Borealis by land or sea and popping the question as you’re getting lost in the lights is magical.

Hawaii – Kauai and Molokai have some of the most amazing beaches on the planet, with some beaches on the Na Pali coast completely empty, almost like they’ve been reserved just for you. You could propose on the edge of the Pacific, under or beneath one of the glorious waterfalls, or even at a coastal cocktail bar. Take your pick!

Cancún – This Mexican city on the edge of the Caribbean is a top spot for tourism, with some incredible white sand beaches and perfect blue seas. Pop up a couple of deckchairs and a parasol and just before you head back to the hotel, propose under the setting Caribbean sun.

The Peak District – If you want to stay a little closer to home, there are some glorious spots in England’s very own Peak District. See the sunset over the landscape at The Roaches, enjoy the local wildlife and nature at Dovedale, or go lakeside at Ladybower Reservoir. You should get a quiet moment in the countryside to pop the question!

Peace!
