Scarborough Sea Life Centre
Scarborough Sea Life Centre
Discover a whole world of underwater adventures at Scarborough Sea Life Centre, home to a host of marine creatures in both indoor and outdoor exhibits!
Located on the North Bay of the main headland, The Sea Life Centre is an exciting (and educational!) day out with over 50 marine life displays including seals, otters and penguins, as well as sharks, jellyfish, rays and much more.
Just some of the things to do at Sea Life Scarborough include:
Penguin Island walk-through enclosure
Waddle side by side with the colony of adorable Humboldt Penguins in their brand new walkthrough home! Watch them swim, splash as they play in their pool and waterfall, or even pick up a fish and treat them to lunch!
The Seal Hospital
Yorkshire's only Seal Hospital, which cares for over 30 rescued seals every year. See how they are nursed back to health so they can be safely returned to the wild.
Interactive Touchpools
Find out what really lives in the rockpools around our coast (and possibly get a little wet)! Everything in the Rockpool is safe to handle, with experts on-hand to show you how:
- Hold a crab (without getting nipped)
- Get a manicure from the resident cleaner shrimp!
- Find out what a sea squirt is - and how it squirts
- Touch a live starfish
- Learn all about limpets (and everything else) from the centre’s expert team
Feeding Times & Interactive Talks
Feeding times take place throughout the day and will definitely be a highlight of your day at Scarborough Sea Life Centre!
Otter Madness
See our Asian Short Clawed otters Eric and Pumpkin enjoy their breakfast and run through their training exercises with their favourite keeper.
Seal Spectacular
Meet resident seals Bruno, Mando, Bubbles, Ed and Sherbert, see what they love to eat and maybe even meet some rescued pups before they are returned to the wild.
Penguin Playtime
Each of the Humboldt Penguins are named after a cartoon character - can you figure out which is who? At playtime you’ll learn all about these adorable, but endangered, birds and the curious noises they make!
Feed the Sharks & Rays!
For just £1 you can give the Sharks and Rays their lunch! Get to know more about these amazing creatures and find out about Shark Tagging programmes in the wild.
Totally Turtles
Meet Antiopi the Loggerhead Turtle, who is a true a survivor! Find out how she made it through a terrible ordeal against all odds, and see the other animals who make the Turtle Sanctuary such a great place. (Please note that this talk is not active whilst the Turtle Area renovations are taking place).
