See the highlights of the most important art collection in the world, housed in the 1200 rooms which make up the Vatican Museum.

During the Vatican tour, you’ll climb the famous beautiful spiral stairway and visit the Rooms of Raphael, see the ancient Roman and Greek pieces in the Belvedere Courtyard, visit the Sistine Chapel and more.

Learn more about the Sistine Chapel from before it was commissioned to its finishing touches, including the history of its priceless frescoes by Michelangelo.

A visit to St Peter’s Basilica is next, the largest basilica in the world built over what are believed to be the bones of St. Peter.

During the three-hour tour, you’ll also see the Pietà, the famous Dome designed by Michelangelo, the massive bronze Baldacchino sculpture by Bernini, the Transfiguration by Raphael and other hugely important artworks.

Once you’ve finished inside St. Peter’s, the tour moves outside where you’ll learn more of the history of the Vatican State and its Swiss Guard and hear how the design of St Peter’s Square came to be.

  • IMPORTANT: Please note that on Wednesday mornings, when the Papal Audience takes place, St Peter's Basilica may be closed to the public. In this case, enjoy an extended itinerary at the Vatican Museums.
