Re-live the history of one of our greatest playwrights at Shakespeare’s Birthplace in Stratford Upon-Avon, where you can visit the homes of Shakespeare and his family!
William Shakespeare is without a doubt one of the greatest playwrights of all time, and now you can visit the places where he was born, lived and worked!
You’ll be taken back in time to Elizabethan England as you step inside the birthplace of Shakespeare, as well as homes and important places that were significant in the life of The Bard.
Tickets allow you to visit 1, 4 or 5 of the houses at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (depending on season).
Guides are also on-hand in each house to tell you about the house and answer any questions you may have.
Explore Shakespeare’s childhood home at the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon. Experience what life as a glovemaker’s son was like – right down to the smells in the workshop of young William’s father.
Watch the garden turn into a live stage, as professional actors in period costumes bring iconic literary scenes to life. With a little bit of luck you could witness the romantic meeting between Romeo and Juliet!
The Shakespeare Aloud! performances will not only place you right in the middle of Shakespeare’s greatest works, but you’ll also be invited to join in!
Visit the beautiful cottage where Shakespeare’s wife grew up and see where love first blossomed between William and Anne.
Fancy a walk? Anne Hathaway’s cottage has 9 acres of award-winning gardens, orchard and woodlands for you to explore. They are different but equally beautiful every season!
This is where Shakespeare’s daughter Susanna lived with her husband, physician John Hall. Take a walk through the elegant halls and learn fascinating stories about the extraordinary guests and residents of the house.
Take a break at the charming café in the garden. Surrounded by lush herbaceous borders and fragrant roses, it’s the perfect place to absorb the atmosphere of Shakespeare’s time.
Sights, sounds and smells will transport you to the farm where Shakespeare’s mother lived and worked. Meet the Tudors who run the place and see the rare breed animals they care for.
Don’t be just a visitor – join in! From falconry, feeding the goats and herding geese to craft demonstrations and an adventure playground – there’s a lot you can get stuck into.
*Mary Arden’s Farm is generally closed between November-mid March each year.
Sadly, the house where Shakespeare died in 1616 after living there for 19 years was demolished over 250 years ago. However, the tales from the past remain and your guides are there to tell them!
At Shakespeare’s New Place, you’ll also get the chance to explore beautiful gardens and see stunning sculptures celebrating the Bard’s life.
