Which rides to use your Disneyland Paris Fastpass on (and which you won’t need to)

One of the best bits of planning a Disney holiday is deciding which rides you want to go on! As you can imagine, some rides are more popular than others, and these ones pretty much always have the longest queues.

However there’s an easy way to avoid the endless waits; the Disneyland Paris Fastpass is a handy queue-jump system that’s available to everyone who visits (though not everyone knows about it!)

How does Disneyland Paris Fastpass work?

The Fastpass is only available for certain rides – generally the ones that have the longest queues.

Here’s what you need to do to skip the line:
Step 1: You’ll see a Fastpass booth at the front of these rides. Enter your admission ticket into the machine and you’ll receive a paper slip that’s printed with your return time.
Step 2: You’re now free to go away and enjoy yourself however you like until that time!
Step 3: Make sure you’re back at the ride by the time printed on your ticket, and you’ll be able to walk straight past the main queue and onto the ride!

Disneyland Paris Fastpass: The Rules

  • The system works because you can only hold one Fastpass ticket at a time; you won’t be able to get a second one until you have used the previous ticket OR until 2 hours have elapsed.
  • You’re allowed to use as many Fastpasses as you like throughout the day, but you can only have one at any given time.
  • Fastpass cannot be used for character meets as you can at other Disney parks.
  • The Fastpasses are free with your Disneyland Paris park admission! However you can purchase a premium Fastpass that offers you unlimited queue-jumps throughout the day. This is available from the desks of the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hotel New York.

Now you just have to decide which attractions you want to use your Fastpass on!
There are 6 attractions which accept Fastpass at the Disneyland Park, and 4 at the Disney Studios Park.

Fastpass Rides at Disneyland Park

1. Peter Pan’s Flight (Fantasyland)

Make this one a priority as queues can often exceed 2 hours! And although it will always be one of my favourite rides, the duration of it – about 2 minutes max – doesn’t really justify a long queuing time.

Why use my Fastpass? This is the ride that runs out of Fastpasses first. Because it’s slow loading and each boat only holds a few people at a time, it has less capacity for Fastpass

2. Star Wars: Hyperspace Mountain (Discoveryland)

This is one of the biggest thrill rides at the park so obviously it’s one of the most popular! It’s vital to Fastpass Space Mountain because you’ll definitely want to ride it, but the long queues could really eat into your day.

When to use my Fastpass? If you’re only visiting Disneyland Paris for a short time and you want to try and fit everything in, you won’t want to tackle this long queue

3. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril (Adventureland)

The other big thrill ride in the Disneyland Park. Again, the queues build up fast because it is one of the few rides that appeal to young adults and teens.
When to use my Fastpass? My advice is to collect a Fastpass for either this or Space Mountain (the 2 major thrill rides) and head straight to ride the other one while you’re waiting.

4. Big Thunder Mountain (Frontierland)

This is a great rollercoaster with a height limit that usually includes children over 5! In my opinion this one is worth up to an hour’s wait, so it’s best to save this for a Fastpass later in the day if it looks like the queues are going to exceed this (which they sometime do).

5. Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast (Discoveryland)

You don’t really need to Fastpass this ride. The queues are often long during the school holidays but not long enough that it’s worth using a Fastpass on early in the day. I tend to ride this in the evening while waiting for the Wishes Fireworks show to start – at that point you can pretty much walk onto the attraction.

6. Star Tours (Discoveryland)

Like with Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, the queue rarely reaches a point when it would be a waste of time to stand in it, especially in the evening. Plus the main queue area has some enjoyable entertainment while you wait (all in French of course)!

Fastpass Rides at Walt Disney Studios Park

1.   Ratatouille: The Adventure (Toon Studio)

I cannot stress enough how important it is to Fastpass this ride; it’s the newest ride at Disneyland Paris, so of course it’s massively popular! It’s a great ride for all ages but the lines do get long especially in the school holidays.

Why use my Fastpass? Not only is this the newest ride, it’s also exclusive to Disneyland Paris so it’s extra popular!

2. Rock’n’Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith (Backlot)

This and the Tower of Terror are two of the biggest thrill rides here, so as with Space Mountain and Indiana Jones in the Disneyland Park, I recommend getting a Fastpass for one of them and then using the time before your return time to queue up for the other.

Why use my Fastpass? To ride the two biggest thrill rides in the shortest amount of time!

3. Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (Production Courtyard)

As mentioned with the Rock n Roller Coaster, it’s worth Fastpassing either of these rides first thing in the morning and queuing for the other. However, if you’re visiting for an extended period you’ll probably have time to Fastpass both during your stay.

4. Flying Carpets Over Agrabah (Toon Studio)

The only time you’ll need to use a Fastpass for this is if you have very small children who can’t queue for more than 5 minutes.
When to use my Fastpass? This ride really isn’t something that requires a pre-planned Fastpass and I recommend only getting one if you’re short on time or patience.
