Visit iconic Game of Thrones filming locations in Iceland

Enter the world of Game of Thrones! Walk the frozen lands of the North of the Seven Kingdoms and behold the gorgeous Icelandic wilderness, as you revisit some of the most memorable moments in Game of Thrones history.

Go beyond the Ice Wall

Step into the vast lands beyond the Ice Wall where the vicious White Walkers and the fearsome Wildlings fight for survival.

Beware in case of a Wight attack! You’re going to the Þingvellir - the Wildling army’s camping spot.  While you’re there, find out new facts about the crucial scene that takes place in the hills from your guide.

Visit the place where one of the bloodiest massacres of the series happened - Settlement Viking Lodge. Take your time to explore but if you come across any odd tall beings with glowing blue eyes, we’d suggest swiftly moving to the next location!

Stand at the Almannagja gorge in Thingvellir - better known by Game of Thrones fans around the world as the bloody gate of Eyrie.

Meet the four-legged stars of the series!

See Porufoss waterfall where the Icelandic goat named Casnova was incinerated by one of Daenerys' dragons. This little goat is a local celebrity who’s enjoyed media coverage from a young age - just ask your guide about him!

Meet some of the animal stars in person, like the horses that portrayed Westeros garrons. They’re now happily retired from showbiz at a horse farm near Reykjavik.

Created by Actual Game of Thrones Extras!

How do you make a great Game of Thrones tour? With an insider’s help of course! Born in Iceland and having died a brutal on-screen death at the hands of the Wildlings, the actor who helped design the tour fits the bill perfectly.

Game of Thrones Tour - Iceland is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic tour- fantastic tour guide! One of the best Game of Thrones tours in Iceland. You could tell that the tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the series. He was able to act out all the parts and even told us one or two tales about the cast. We visited a few of the filming locations and you can see why the Game of Thrones producers chose these locations for some of the scenes in GOT, the natural beauty of the country brings the books to life. Iceland is truly the land of ice and fire and you can see how the country inspired George RR Martin to write the epic tale!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must-do for Game of Thrones fans! We were picked up from our guesthouse at around 9.30am and were dropped off at the main bus terminal where we exchange our e-ticket and boarded the truck. Our tour guide Astor was a Game of Thrones genius! Some of the stops were nearly an hours drive away, but we never got bored as he kept us entertained with fun facts about the cast and TV series. His English was perfect and I don’t think we would have enjoyed the tour half as much without him. We visited 4 filming locations in total. There should have been a 5th stop, however the road was completely blocked by snow (a downside to visiting in winter). Bit disappointing but you can’t control the weather! Lunch (not included in the price) was at a roadside café which only sold chips, chicken, hotdogs and burgers. Not great for vegetarians! Make sure you take some money with you, or you can take a packed lunch as long as you don’t mind eating it while at one of the stops (no food was allowed on the bus). We were dropped back at our hotel by around 6pm, so were able to also fit in the Northern Lights tour that evening too. Perfect when you’re trying to fit as much as possible into only a few days.
