Explore the Golden Circle Classic – Iceland’s best tour!

Voted #1 tour in Iceland by TripAdvisor, the Golden Circle Classic is one not to be missed! Enjoy a day of travelling to some of the country’s most stunning sights and historical landmarks.

What’s even better - you’ll have a professional tour guide by your side!

Here’s what you’ll see on the Golden Circle Classic

  • Þingvellir National Park - UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Gullfoss  glacial waterfall
  • The gap where the tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America separated
  • The famous Geysir and Strokkur hot springs
  • Nesjavellir Geothermal field*

* Due to weather and road conditions we cannot guarantee visits to Nesjavellir in the winter season

Visit the birthplace of the Icelandic parliament

Þingvellir is where the Icelandic parliament Alþingi held its first meeting in 930AD. The same spot has been used for parliament gatherings up until the 20th century!

See the stunning Gullfoss - Iceland’s Golden Waterfall

Did you know that “Gullfoss” literally translates to “Golden Waterfall” in Icelandic? If you’re visiting the Golden Circle on a sunny day, you’ll see that the water looks golden-brown. The unusual colour comes from the millions of sediments from the Earth that has been carried by the glacial water for centuries!

Witness Geysir and Strokkur erupt

You won’t have to wait long to see the famous hot springs erupt – water shoots out ever 6-10 minutes. The geysers are an impressive sight - they usually reach 15-20meters, but sometimes the water reaches up to 40m!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent day out Thus was an excellent day out. We started with sunrise in the Thingvellir National Park, and finished at the Geyser Basin, calling at a small but very interesting Rock Museum on our way back to Reykjavik

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best Iceland day tours! Our favourite day of the holiday! We went in January so the snowy landscapes left you breathless. We saw the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall where you can see the mists and rainbows rise out of it and walked through the Þingvellir National Park to enjoy the sunrise from the top of the hill. The geysers were also astonishing, despite the smell of rotten eggs in the air, it’s spectacular to see geysers shoot 100ft into the air every 10 minutes! On the way back we also got to see some Icelandic Horses unique to the country and saw some barren snowscapes with snow-capped mountains which looked like something straight out of Interstellar or Star Wars! The coach had comfortable seating and was warm at all times which was pretty handy for those travelling in the winter! One of the best tours in Iceland.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tour we did in Iceland If you only have time to do one tour in Iceland I’d 100% recommend this one. It was my favourite day of our trip! We were picked up from our guesthouse at around 8.30am, and were dropped off at the main bus terminal where we exchanged our e-ticket. We then boarded the coach and left Reykjavik at around 9am. We visited in January so it was freezing outside. Make sure you wrap up warm if you’re visiting in winter! The National Park is beautiful and we were lucky enough to see the sunrise while there. The waterfall and geysirs were also stunning to look at. I couldn’t stop taking pictures! On the way back we also stopped off at a Horse Park for 20 minutes, where we could use the toilets and stroke the horses. Not sure if they do this on every tour but it was a great way to end the day.
