Horse & Carriage Ride in Central Park

A horse-drawn Central Park carriage ride is one of the icons of New York, and a must-do on any city break to the Big Apple!

A magical experience at any time of year, taking a horse and carriage through Central Park is one of the most romantic ways to explore New York.

It’s also a symbol of the city’s history; before the advent of motor vehicles, New Yorkers transported everything by horse-drawn carriage.

The carriage driver is your guide, and will give you an entertaining, informative tour of many of the park’s famous and beautiful landmarks.

Routes through the park can vary, but you’re likely to see sights such as:

  • Central Park Zoo
  • San Remo Building
  • Sheep Meadow
  • The Pond
  • Central Park’s many famous statues
  • The Wollman Rink in winter or the Carousel in summer
  • Famous locations from movie scenes
  • and lots more!

The carriage can be open-topped in the summer or closed during cold or rainy weather. Blankets can be provided in cold weather.

All carriage drivers are professional licensed New York City horse-drawn carriage guides

Horse and Carriage Ride in Central Park is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Relaxing Ride! We went on this in Spring time, and it was nice weather for it, we was also offered blankets as it was a bit chilly! The driver told us some fun facts about the buildings and park as we went around it. It was a lovely way to see the park and a lovely experience overall!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picture perfect Bought a ticket for my family and I, and we wandered along by Central Park to find the carriage with rosette insignia that meant we could use our ticket. We found a carriage easily and started our journey. I booked the 50 minute tour because I thought the 20-minute tour would be too short, and I was right! 50 minutes was perfect because you got a really lovely encompassing view of Central Park from top to bottom, and our driver was incredibly knowledgeable about everything that went on in the park--from 7.30 morning concerts to the famous boating pond they used in Stuart Little. Incredibly relaxing, really fun to wave at people gawking, and overall a low-key but great NYC experience.
