Visit Aquaventure Dubai like a PRO!
Planning on visiting Dubai’s best water park? Let me help you with that!
Here are 13 useful things to know when planning your day at Aquaventure Dubai:
1. Plan ahead & go early!
You have to come at Aquaventure Waterpark with a game plan if you want to maximize your time and make the most of your day.
Start by coming in early. The park opens at 10am. Make sure by that time you’re already there and queuing.
Here are the 3 main reasons why:
- One: Aquaventure is THE biggest and most popular water park in Dubai, so the crowds are no joke. The only way to beat them is to get there first.
- Two: The park is HUGE – 42 acres to be exact. To cover that much ground, you’ll need all the time you can get, so an early start is a must!
- Three: Entry to Aquaventure is FREE for people staying at Atlantis the Palm Hotel, so hotel guests are always going to have the time advantage
2. Location, location, location…
The good thing is, in terms of location, it doesn’t get any better than Aquaventure Dubai.
The park is situated within Atlantis The Palm Resort. If you’ve never been to Dubai – it’s right around the corner from Downtown Dubai. Turning up early should be dead easy!
3. Bring water shoes, thank me later!
I won’t amaze you by telling you it gets really hot in Dubai, right?
However, what you might not realize is that the ground heats up A LOT in the sun. So much so, that if you go barefoot, by midday you’ll find yourself skipping from one shaded patch to another, desperately trying to keep your feet from burning.
The solution is to pack a pair of water shoes – they don’t fall off or slip (unlike flip-flops) and you can wear them on the slides.
4. No need to carry cash around the park
Try packing a wallet in a pair of swimming trunks (or worse – a bikini)! Luckily, at Aquaventure Waterpark you can go cashless and avoid all of that hassle.
The park has a system which allows you to wear a wristband as a portable paying device. All you have to do is top it up by cash or card at the start of the day and just scan your wristband every time you want to buy something at the park.
5. It takes 45 minutes to float across Aquaventure
Remember my point about coming in early? Well, Aquaventure Dubai has a lazy river which is 2.3km long and it takes 45 minutes to do the full length of the ride!
That’s why if you want to relax and fully enjoy The Rapids, you need to plan ahead.
6. No selfie sticks on the rides!
Sorry, selfie lovers! For safety reasons, selfie sticks are not permitted on the rides.
Anyway, once you’re going down the slides you won’t have much time for photos, you’ll be too busy screaming for your life…
7. Leap of Faith is not for the faint of heart
Speaking about things that make you scream, Leap of Faith is one slide you should attempt only if you’re REALLY brave.
You may have already heard people warn you about the near-vertical 27-metre drop. Before you dismiss them as scaredy-cats, let’s put this into perspective!
Leap of Faith is 3 times the size of a London bus and half as high as the Cinderella Castle at Disney World Florida!
8. You’ll feel extra safe
As the day progresses, you may notice that there are life guards in abundance at the park.
I find it reassuring to know that the pros are watching over. It definitely makes facing monstrous, record-breaking water slides a tad less intimidating!
9. Make time for Aquaventure Beach
Not to bang on about planning but here’s one more thing to fit on your agenda – the beach. Aquaventure Dubai has 700 metres of pristine beaches you can enjoy absolutely FREE with your park tickets.
You wouldn’t want to miss out on a perfectly good opportunity to top up your tan, would you?
10. Feel free to drink…but not too much!
Aquaventure Waterpark is licensed to sell alcohol. You can get anything from a beer to a Mojito…Just make sure you don’t have one too many. Getting tipsy will get you kicked out of the park!
11. Swim with dolphins or dive with sharks
If you love animals, you’ll LOVE this! If you’re willing to pay a little extra, you can go for a leisurely stroll underwater surrounded by sharks, or take a belly ride on a dolphin. Best part is, if you book the Dolphin Encounter in advance, you can enter Aquaventure Dubai for FREE on the same day!
12. Check the height restrictions before you bring the kids
All water parks have height restrictions and Aquaventure makes no exception. To enjoy the mega-slides in the park, your child must be at least 1.2m (47″/3ft11″). That’s why anyone over 1.2m tall has to have an Adult Ticket.
That’s not to say that smaller children won’t enjoy the park, they just won’t be allowed on the scarier rides.
13. Aquaventure Dubai & The Lost Chamber Aquarium in one day
If you’re going with smaller children and you’re restricted on the things you can do at Aquaventure, consider visiting the Lost Chambers Aquarium on the same day. It’s also located at Atlantis the Palm, so you won’t have to do any travelling.
The Lost Chambers Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the Middle East. It’s designed as an underwater labyrinth – the kids just love walking under water, surrounded by all sorts of bizarre creatures! To be honest, it’s pretty amazing for the adults too…
