Alton Towers - Highlights
The Smiler
The first coaster of its kind in the world, The Smiler is an all-knowing controlling force that makes its riders compliant until they become a smiling advocate.
This new ride will be the Resort’s biggest ever rollercoaster, with a track length of 1,170m (3x the length of Oblivion), a maximum speed of approx 85km/hr (10km/hr faster than Air) and a “highest drop” of 30m.
The Smiler is due to open in Spring 2013
Thirteen
Thirteen will be based on the discovery of an unearthed ancient burial site in an unexplored woodland area in Alton Towers known as the Dark Forest.
Dare to take a petrifying ride on Thirteen, venturing into the seemingly living and breathing Dark Forest. There you will face an unknown horror that has been unleashed from the ancient crypt deep beneath Alton Towers.
The ride combines the ultimate elements of physical and psychological fear - to create what experts are dubbing a 'psychoaster'.

Ice Age Cinema
Located in the Cloud Cuckoo Land Theatre, this attraction is based on the third movie in the blockbuster series and combines 3-D footage with breathtaking physical effects including icy blasts, snow and bubbles. Fans will also be able to meet and greet with the “Ice Age” characters Sid and Scrat around the Alton Towers Resort.
Nemesis Sub-Terra
This psychologically and physically thrilling experience takes place in a dark, intense underground setting which is based around the story of the original Nemesis ride, which opened in 1994.
Nemesis Sub-Terra takes guests on a terrifying journey into the deepest, darkest location of the theme park, and is one of the resort’s most terrifying attractions.
