Chichen Itza by Mayaland

Visit Chichen Itza, one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, once the capital of the ancient Mayan civilisation and recently designated one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World!

Steeped in a mysterious history of human sacrifice, astrological discovery and bloody rituals, the Chichen Itza site was once the very centre of the Mayan civilisation and a powerful warrior culture.

Your tour begins with pick-up from selected Mayan Riviera hotels. En route to Chichen Itza, you’ll stop for a break in a Mayan village which offers plenty of exciting shopping opportunities.

Upon arrival at Chichen Itza, your experienced guide will take you on a tour of this incredible Maya-Toltec site* which includes a Nunnery, Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Ball Court, Observatory, Temple of the Warriors and many other smaller beautifully preserved temples.

Following your tour, you’ll walk through to the Mayaland Hotel, the only hotel with access to the Chichen Itza ruins, for a delightful buffet lunch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A revelation Being the new Seventh Wonder of the world it was always on our list of places to visit during our recent holiday in Mexico and boy did it live up to our expectations. We were collected on time by Mauricio (Guide) and Carlos (Driver) from the lobby of our hotel and from that moment on we were offered a wealth of information not only on Chichen Itza but on the Mayan Culture in general. Once we arrived at the site we were shown around in grand style by our lovely Mauricio. I dont think there was a single question that he couldn't answer! I suspect our visit wouldn't have been even half as good without our excellent guide so if Chichen Itza is on your list of possible excursions it would be sensible to book this particular tour and have the expert knowledge of a local.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must-do in Cancun! Chichen Itza was listed in the Lonely Planet Mexico’s top things to do, so we knew we had to go there while we were staying in Cancun! We were picked up from our hotel lobby on time and had no issues with using our e-ticket. Our guide, Delio, was hilarious and really made the tour. Even while switching between English and Spanish for the benefit of the different guests he managed to make the tour interesting and lots of fun with loads of little stories about the area and its history. He knew so much about Chichen Itza and the Mayans and made it all really genuinely interesting! Chichen Itza itself was amazing and there was loads to see. The pyramids are spectacular and you could even see the Mayans’ equivalent of a football pitch. After the tour we had lunch at the Mayaland Hotel which was lovely. After lunch we were given the choice to go swimming in the cenote (a natural below-ground pool) for an extra $3.50 each – otherwise you could just stay and sunbathe by the hotel pool. I’d recommend going to the cenote as it was beautiful and very refreshing to have a swim after a morning of traipsing round in the sun! I would definitely recommend this tour – it was well-organised, our guide made it really good fun and I learned a lot too!
