Trastevere, trends and traditions

Pack away your guidebook and explore the spectacular and winding streets of Trastevere on this epic Rome Food Tour.

Explore some of Italy’s most irresistible bakeries, get your mouth round some thirst-quenching sorbet and discover one of Italy’s most remarkable neighbourhoods, Trastevere.

Get ready to be swept away as you mingle among the locals to get a real taste of Italian food and culture.

Taste some of Italy’s most mouth-watering sorbet

You’ll start your tour at the banks of Tiber Island, stopping off at the Church of San Bartholomeo, before heading over to the famous Cestius Bridge.

From here, you’ll have the chance to taste some local ‘grattachecca’ – or sorbet to those who of us who haven’t polished up on our Italian – on the banks of the river.

It’ll definitely change your idea of ice-cream, that’s for sure.

Discover the neighbourhood’s spectacular sights & hangouts

Make sure you have your camera at the ready as you head through some of the neighbourhood’s most quaint and labyrinth streets.

Along the way, you’ll have the chance to take a peep at the neighbourhood’s growing collection of family-fun restaurants and nightclubs.

From here, you’ll head the Basilica of Santa Cecilia to see the place where the Roman Martyr, Cecilia, died hundreds of years ago.

You’ll then head along one of Trastevere’s many cobbled streets to reach the Piazza Santa, where you’ll have plenty of time to soak up local life and culture.

Once you’re done people watching, you’ll move onto a nearby bakery – the most famous bakery in town - to sample of Italy’s delicious specialities.
